FIFA Senior Manager for Africa, Mr. Francesco Bruscoli says his organisation is ready to support the Zimbabwe Football Association in raising the standard of football in the country.
Speaking on the sidelines of a FIFA General Secretaries Seminar in Victoria Falls, Mr. Bruscoli said Zimbabwe has huge potential of excelling in football due to the passion people have for the game, adding that his organisation will soon be working on football development in the areas of infrastructure and financial stability for the football governing bodies in the region.
ZIFA president, Mr. Cuthbert Dube expressed gratitude to FIFA for showing confidence in Zimbabwe, saying this will further enhance the good relations that exist between the two football governing bodies.
ZIFA Board Member Finance, Retired Brigadier General Elliot Kasu said the key focus of the football governing body currently is to come up with a programme that will see youths being developed at an early stage to improve the quality of the national soccer team in the long term.
The FIFA General Secretaries Seminar was organised for the first time in this format to enable chief executive officers and general secretaries of football associations of from East and Southern Africa to share some information concerning FIFA development programmes, foster dialogue and also to share ideas as well as best practices in the football fraternity.
