A total of 90 people lost their lives on the countryâ€™s roads during the festive season.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Andrew Phiri said as from the 15th of December last year to new yearâ€™s day, a total of 1 094 accidents had been recorded with 90 people losing their lives, while 1 075 people were injured.
2 849 unroadworthy vehicles were impounded while 66 994 tickets were issued to motorists for committing various traffic offences.
177 people were arrested for driving whilst drunk.
Meanwhile, police have called on motorists to exercise extreme caution whilst driving on the roads.
