As the Christmas holiday, which is synonymous with merry making, approaches, Harare’s central business district (CBD) has been a hive of activity as people could be seen in bank queues looking for cash.
Despite the economic challenges the country is facing which include the cash crisis, hopes are still high among the public that they will enjoy this year’s festive season with their loved ones.
Those who spoke to the ZBC News said they are optimistic about this year’s festive season while others shared different views.
Cash shortages have been cited as the biggest challenge and small business owners said customer turnout is still very low.
Authorities have therefore been called upon to put in place measures that ensure the public enjoy a festive season guaranteed of safe travel, access to cash and reasonable pricing.
