Fellow artists and fans of the late gospel and sungura artist, Cephas Mashakada who died on Tuesday afternoon after succumbing to diabetes and kidney failure say his death is a great loss to the music industry.
The arts fraternity has been robbed of a great musician and teacher who will be hard to replace.
These were the sentiments of artists who are gathered at the Mashakada home in Chitungwiza to mourn Cephas â€˜Motomuzhinjiâ€™ Mashaka who died on Tuesday afternoon.
Board Chairperson of the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, Dr. Thokozile Chitepo said the void left by Mashakada will be hard to fill.
Fans of the late Sounds of the Muddy Face front man said they will miss the musician whom they described as approachable and always willing to help.
They said they will also miss his lyrics which were full of good advice.
The body of the late musician will lie in state at his Chitungwiza home this Wednesday night before leaving for Chinhoyi Thursday afternoon where it will also lie in state at the Mashakada home at Number 489 Chitambo section, before burial at the Chinhoyi cemetery on Friday afternoon at 2pm.
Chitungwiza General Hospital has availed a bus to ferry fans who want to attend the musicianâ€™s burial.
Meanwhile, fellow musicians gave Mashakada a befitting send off in a 24-hour bash with artists including The sounds of the Muddy Face, Pastor Haisa, Pax Gomo, the Four Brothers, Alick Macheso and Hosiah Chipanga playing at his Chitungwiza home in a show to pay tribute to the late artist.
