fc pl logo.jpgZimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, FC Platinum are optimistic their pre-season signings will boost the team ahead of a crucial preliminary round qualifier against Green Mambas of Swaziland next month.

Having acquired the services of high profile players such as Qadir Amini, Gilbert Banda, Ali Sadiki and Allan Gahadzikwa just to name a few, the “money bags” Secretary, Philimon Muvengwa says all is in place for their showdown with Swaziland’s Green Mambas.

With the upgrading of Mandava Stadium having been completed, Muvengwa expressed confidence the Zvishavane facility will be able to meet CAF standards.

The platinum miners who offloaded 12 players including Norman Maroto, Mernard Mupera and Bhekimpilo Ncube are set to begin their Champions League campaign with a preliminary round first leg date with the Green Mambas away at Somhlolo Stadium on February 19, before hosting the Swazis a fortnight later.

FC Platinum who will be embarking on their maiden dance in Africa’s biggest club competition will be hoping to emulate 2008 league champions, Monomotapa Football Club who qualified for the mini-league phase on their first attempt.
