FC Platinum kept their title hopes alive with a vital 2-1 win over Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon.

Highlanders drew first blood in the 27th minute when Simon Munawa’s header was blocked but persistence saw Munawa bundle home the opener.

The platinum miners however found a way back into the match 9 minutes later courtesy of veteran forward Mkhokeli Dube after some great build up play by Brett Amidu in a contest that went to half time deadlocked at 1-1.

The second half was filled with excitement as both sides pushed forward for a winner.

The introduction of Ali Sadiki however proved to be a masterstroke for Norman Mapeza after the second half substitute scored the all important winner which saw FC Platinum win the contest 2-1.

Elsewhere, Caps United overcame Triangle 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium in the capital.

A solitary strike by in-form forward Dominic Chungwa ensured the Lloyd Chitembwe coached side collect maximum points.
