The Fallen Heroes Trust and war veterans say the reburial of fallen heroes must continue in honour of late national hero, Cde George Rutanhire, who died early Saturday at Karanda Mission Hospital in Mt Darwin after succumbing to renal failure.

Cde Rutanhire was instrumental in the reburial of all the fallen heroes where hundreds have been accorded descent burial.

Fallen Heroes Trust Vice Chairperson, Dr Arthur Makanda said the vision of Cde Rutanhire was to see descent burial accorded to all freedom fighters.

“The nation must continue with the work left by the late national hero, Cde Rutanhire,” he said.

Chief exhumer for the trust, Cde Anyway Chinyani said the late national hero continued to render his service to the nation after independence in honour of those who sacrificed their lives to free Zimbabwe.

A war veteran, Cde Samuel Dhliwayo added that Cde Rutanhire was a straight forward man and a unifier whose legacy will be remembered by many comrades.

Cde Rutanhire will be laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre this Saturday.
