The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged motorists to remain vigilant and observe the rules of the roads in order to avoid the continued loss of lives to accidents.
The call was made by the Officer Commanding Police in Matabeleland South Province Senior Assistant Commissioner Learn Ncube at the funeral service of four Gwanda based officers who perished in a road accident last Saturday.
Family, friends and colleagues of four ZRP officers whose lives ended tragically in a car accident this Saturday converged at the ZRP Headquarters in Gwanda today for a funeral service ahead of the burial of the members at their respective rural homes.
Addressing mourners, Senior Assistant Commissioner Ncube expressed deep sadness at the death of the four saying the force has lost loyal and dedicated members whose contribution to the organisation was still needed.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Ncube appealed to motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads and observe road regulations to avoid the continued loss of lives.
The officers who were deployed in Gwanda died 20 km out of Bulawayo this Saturday after the driver lost control of the vehicle they were travelling in resulting in the car veering off the road and overturning.
The victims are Carl Mhaka, 24, Edmore Mpinga, 27, Emmanuel Goncalves, 23, and Tawanda Magovanyika, 35.
