A youth empowerment conference was held in Epworth this Saturday aimed at empowering Epworth youths from all walks of life with income generating projects.

The majority of the Epworth community youths are unemployed, leading to stereotype that most of the youths in the area are involved in drugs abuse, prostitution and crime.

Youths, who attended the conference, said they learnt a lot of life skills from the discussions.

Coordinator of the event, Simbarashe Manyika said the conference was meant to empower the youths with life skills.

Bishop Vukani Dhladhla, a life coach who was also a guest at the event, noted that the first step in empowering the youth is working with attitude and perception, and reengineering the mind that it becomes productive.

A number of Epworth based artists entertained the crowd as a way of encouragement and motivation.
