The first ever Environment and Natural Resources Conference and Expo opened in Harare this Wednesday with more than 65 organisations exhibiting products being used to green the economy and reduce all forms of pollution.
As efforts by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Management to forge synergies, partnerships and collaborations in waste management, pollution reduction and environmental protection gather momentum, more than 65 exhibitors have come together to showcase what they are doing to protect and reduce waste in the environment.
Environment Management Agency (EMA) Communication and Publicity Manager, Mr Steady Kangata said the thrust of the environment and natural resources expo is for industry to share ideas and come up with big projects to protect the environment.
“We are so happy that the expo came to life. We would like all organisations to share notes such that they help each other whenever there is need and refer clients to each other. This will help in environmental protection,†said Mr Kangata.
The exhibitors said the expo is an opportunity for networking and educating the public on the importance of reducing and recycling waste into useable products, a development that has become a global trend.
Among exhibitors at the expo, which is running parallel to an environment conference, are local industries and organisations engaged in the recycling of various materials.
The expo was organised by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Management and will run from the 1st to the 3rd of this month.Â
