environment expo 01-06-11.pngThe inaugural Environment Expo and Conference which attracted 65 exhibitors, ended in Harare after 3 days of exhibition that saw hundreds of people attending.

The 3 day environment expo came to an end on Friday with positive comments from the general public and exhibitors who had an opportunity to network.

The exhibitors however bemoaned the lack of financial assistance for the country to carry out environmentally friendly projects.

In his concluding remarks, Environment and Natural Resources Minister, Cde Francis Nhema said his Ministry is strongly advocating for the adoption of legislation that promotes best practices by all stakeholders in the environment management.

“The environment expo will be a yearly event meant to provide a platform for stakeholders to exhibit various ways of conserving the environment and sustainable use of natural resources,” said Cde Nhema.

The exposition which was held under the theme ‘Greening the Economy” also provides a platform for the business sector as well as players in the environment sector to exhibit and showcase various strategies they are adopting towards greening their activities.

The ministry has already put in place an environmental act that allows every project to undergo an impact assessment before it commences.
