The Muslim community has marked the International Muslim Women’s Day with women being urged to engage in income generating projects with promote financial independence. 

Women of Muslim faith gathered in the capital to commemorate Women’s Day in honour of the birth of Fatima Zahra, Prophet Muhammad’s daughter.

A call for self reliance and safeguarding integrity of the family unit was made by Fatima Zahra College director Mrs Hajar Makwinja and Zimbabwe Women in Progress chairlady Mrs Yvonne Sibanda.

Fatima Zahra who was born in the fifth year of Muhammad’s prophethood left a legacy of excellence in worship, high moral and mannerisms.
