Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Arthur Mutambara has urged stakeholders in the information communication technologies (ICTs) to engage positively with government for the growth of the sector.In a bid to exploit the use of information communication technology, stakeholders in the industry converged in the capital to deliberate on investment opportunities in the sector.
Officially opening the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce ICT business and innovation symposium, Professor Mutambara said the implementation of public private partnerships is critical in the utilisation of the sector for the growth of the economy.
He added that the sector has the potential to contribute 50% to the countryâ€™s gross domestic product.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Engineer Sam Kundishora said the sector can play a critical role towards economic growth and can be utilised in addressing the Millennium Development Goals.
The symposium sought to give an insight into current developments in the ICT sector and how business leaders can learn from other countries in terms of the utilisation of the existing infrastructure.
The symposium was been held under the theme â€œDoing business in a fast evolving ICT environmentâ€.
