Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo has visited the Ndlovu family in Bulawayo to console them following the death of national hero, Professor Callistus Ndlovu.
Cde Khaya Moyo, who like the late hero, hails from Sanzukwi in Mangwe district said Professor Ndlovu was an accomplished scholar who inspired a lot of people in their community to pursue education and be an asset to the nation.
He added that Professor Ndlovu’s contribution to the liberation of the country was immeasurable as he dedicated a lot of his time and resources to the fight against the colonial regime.
“Professor Ndlovu was a great scholar and all the people in the community wanted to be like him so they also improved their education. Apart from that he contributed a lot to the liberation and development of this country so the country has lost a man with vision. The nationalism spirit of people like Professor Ndlovu must be emulated by all especially the youths,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo also he challenged Zimbabweans to work towards nation building and ensure that the country attains the upper middle income status by 2030 as stated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Professor Ndlovu’s body will this Thursady be flown to his rural home in Sanzukwi before it is brought back to Bulawayo where it will lie in state at his Khumalo home.
On Friday, a church service will be held at St Mary’s Cathedral before his final send-off at the Large City Hall after which his body will be flown to Harare for burial at the National Heroes Acre on Saturday.
Professor Ndlovu is survived by wife, Angeline, several children and great grand children. Mourners are gathered at number 3, Fletcher Avenue in Khumalo, Bulawayo.
