josh nkomo.jpgWith two days to go before the nation commemorates the 12th anniversary of the death of the late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo, Amai Maud Muzenda has paid tribute to the role played by the late veteran nationalist and has urged the youths to emulate him.

Ambuya Muzenda, widow of the late Vice President Cde Simon Vengayi Muzenda made the remarks after receiving a state-of-the-art battery operated wheelchair from a mining concern, DTZ Ozegeo and the Development Trust of Zimbabwe.

Ambuya Muzenda said there is need to educate the youths about the country’s history and how veteran nationalists such as the late Cde Joshua Nkomo and the late Cde Simon Muzenda sacrificed to liberate the country from colonial bondage.

Vice President Cde John Landa Nkomo, who is patron of the Development Trust of Zimbabwe, was given two wheelchairs by DTZ Ozegeo company to pass on to two people of his choice.

Cde Nkomo chose widow of the late Vice President Cde Joseph Msika, Ambuya Msika and Ambuya Maud Muzenda to be the beneficiaries.

Speaking at the handover ceremony at Mbuya Muzenda’s residence, Cde Nkomo said his party Zanu PF values senior citizens such as Ambuya Muzenda and wants them to live comfortable lives.

Also present at the handover ceremony was Zanu PF Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, who also paid tribute to the mining concern for such an initiative.

DTZ Ozegeo Non Executive Director, Mr. Wellington Chando represented the company.

Mbuya Muzenda showed appreciation and could not hide her joy when she was shown how to operate the wheelchair by representatives from the company.
