The Minister Sport, Arts and Recreation, Cde Kazembe Kazembe has urged youths to embrace the Youth Education through Sport (YES) initiative, which he said instills moral values and key life lessons to young people.

Cde Kazembe made the remarks during the YES programme which was held at Chaplain High School in Gweru.

Sporting teams drawn from the country’s 10 provinces participated in various sporting disciplines under the YES games festival in Gweru.

The YES programme gives young people not only sporting skills but inculcates values and life skills necessary for survival, so sporting clubs and youths must to embrace the initiative,” said Cde Kazembe urged at the closing ceremony of the games.

Midlands Minister of State, Cde Owen Ncube said the province, which will host the 2018 combined Zimbabwe National Paralympic and Youth games is already refurbishing and constructing state of the art sport and recreation facilities for the combined 2018 games.

For three days, the teams participated in sport, community projects and peer education as part of youth education through sport programme.
