Zanu PF has implored its structures in Mashonaland Central Province to embrace devolution so as to turn around the economic fortunes of the area.
Speaking during a Provincial Coordination Committee meeting held in Bindura on Saturday, the Minister of ICT and Courier Services, who is also Zanu PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Chairperson, Cde Kazembe Kazembe said there is consensus in government that devolution can unlock the economic potential of the nation if efforts are harnessed to fully utilise resources on disposal.
“Our President speaks passionately about devolution. It is now a reality, meaning that we will be competing with other provinces in terms of GDPs. As leaders, we will ensure the development of our province. We want to have PCCs where we talk about our economic contributions,” he said.
The Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Climate, Water and Rural Resettlement and Zanu PF Politburo member, Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri applauded Mashonaland Central Province for steering the party to election victory and called for the support of the new cabinet ministers.
“This province was the best in terms of supporting the party. We highly expect your support, and your ideas will contribute to the development of our nation,” he said.
Newly appointed Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Monica Mavhunga praised Zanu PF members for their unwavering support.
Cde Monica Mavhunga becomes the first female minister of state in the province.
