The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has launched a Schools Zero Tolerance Litter Campaign to impart knowledge to the young children on the dangers of unsustainable waste management.
School children and staff have been challenged to promote sustainable waste management.
Speaking at the Schools Zero Tolerance Litter Campaign held in the capital, EMA board chairperson Ambassador Zenzo Nsimbi said the aim is to enhance a positive attitude within school authorities and learners to avoid littering everywhere.
“The purpose of the launch is to educate school children in the country to maintain a clean environment,” he said.
Students applauded EMA for the initiative saying it will help the country in attaining a world class status by 2030.
“As students we will maintain the cleaner environment in the country to achieve world class status,” said some of the students.
According to the Environmental Management Act Chapter 20:27 and section 73 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, everyone has a right to clean and safe environment hence the campaign.
