Opposition political parties and the elections mother body have welcomed the closed door deliberations they had with the visiting 3-member delegation of Elders led by former UN Secretary General, Mr Kofi Annan.

Opposition political party presidents told the ZBC News said they had explained their differences with ZEC and the government on the pre-election process to the Elders, while ZEC said the contents of the discussions were confidential.

In line with the commitment to transparency, credibility freeness and fairness of the 2018 harmonised elections, the new administration invited several observer missions from the continent among them the Elders who have been meeting with stakeholders ahead of the polls.

CODE President, Elton Mangoma and MDC Alliance President, Nelson Chamisa said they had presented to the elders their concerns ahead of the polls.

From their meeting with the MDC Alliance, the elders proceeded to meet the ZEC Chairperson, Justcice Priscillah Chigumba and some of her commissioners under closed door deliberations.

Justice Chigumba hailed the discussions with the Elders as fruitful but maintained that they were confidential.

On the question of the concerns of some opposition political parties which they continue to raise, Justice Chigumba reiterated that the multi-party liaison committee was the platform specifically set up to iron out sticking issues.
