Members of Chitungwiza Old People’s Association have decried neglect by their children and close relatives as causing them anguish.

The elderly persons revealed this during an end of year gathering in the satellite town.

For many old age is a sign of God’s favour to the gift of life, but not so for most elderly persons of Chitungwiza Old People’s Association who feel they are being neglected.

In the passage of growing old come behavioural changes that younger generations may fail to understand let alone embrace leading to them abusing the elderly.

The senior citizens said they wish society and their families would appreciate their presence.

It is through respect and accommodation of the elderly that benefits can be derived from their long accumulated knowledge, experience and wisdom.

The Chitungwiza Old People’s Association invited a mbira group and the elderly afforded themselves a moment to go down memory lane recapping their dancing skills.
