horse racing.jpgThere is an eight race programme at Borrowdale Race Course this Sunday with the feature race being the Cape Premier Yearling Sale Fillies Classic to be run over 1 600 metres.

11 runners were nominated for the feature race, but nine horses from 4 stables were eventually accepted.

The unbeaten Control Freak, which will be ridden by Gavin Lerena for Lisa Harris’ stable, looks set to claim its 8th career victory and preserve its unbeaten record.

In its career so far, Control Freak has been the embodiment of class and there is nothing in this field to suggest that she will play second fiddle.

Janey, Dalliance and Guest Night are the other runners from the Harris stable.

Susan Gail Odendaal will be hoping that Like Paradise which has won twice in seven starts, will produce its best form and steal the show.

It’s going to be a tall order however, taking into account the impressive racing career of the favourite, Control Freak.

Kirk Swanson has three runners contesting the main race of the day, namely Satisfaction, Zororo and Sunday Morning, and the accomplished trainer will keep his fingers crossed that one of the three runners from his stable will defy the odds and cross the finishing post first.

It however appears the runners from the Swanson yard have their work cut out in their quest to emerge victorious.

Beauty Ashes from Karen Tselentis yard completes the nine horse field in the feature race. It’s not going to be an easy outing for Beauty Ashes, which needs to be in top form to show the rest of the field a clean pair of heels.

The Cape Yearling Sales Fillies Classic is the first of the 3-year old classics of the season for fillies only and will be run over 1 600 metres at Borrowdale Race Course this coming Sunday and has a stake of 7500 dollars.
