President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is in Addis Ababa for the 32nd Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly, has toured Bole Lemi Industrial Parks located on the periphery of the capital city.
Two of the industrial parks visited – Jay Jay Textiles and Ashton Garment Manufacturers – specialise in textiles and clothing mainly for the export market.
The idea of industrial parks resonates with President Mnangagwa’s vision of modernisation and industrialisation and creation of special economic zones across the country.
The directors at the textile firms visited by the President said they are employing thousands of people.
Jay Jay Textiles employs more than 4 000 workers, the majority of whom are women.
