DRC Defence Minister Crispin Atama Tabe acknowledged the importance of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s visit saying the role played by Zimbabwe in Operation Sovereign Legitimacy was critical.

Speaking during a tour at the Regional Strategic Centre for Central Africa College, Mr Atama Tabe expressed hope that the college will in future be honoured to receive generals, politicians and other cadres to come and study.

He said the college trains generals from DRC and other countries.

The Regional Strategic Centre for Central Africa was opened two years ago to attain strategic autonomy on issues for Congo and Africa.

Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commended the Congolese College of higher defence and strategic studies saying it is important for training officers for joint operations for SADC and the Africa region..

The college which was set up in 2016 provides high quality training for generals, colonels and leaders of state institutions as well as police.

In his message in the book of visitors the President Mnangagwa said it is a good development which enables Africa to find solutions for African problems.

The college has so far trained three groups including the current one.
