The Zanu PF Youth League says President Emmerson Mnangagwa is firmly in charge of national issues and has the full support of the governing party, Zanu PF.
During an interactive dialogue meeting between the league’s executive and Beitbridge youths, it was noted that the President was concerned about a number of issues including the sky-rocketing prices of goods and services.
Zanu PF Youth League National Secretary for Administration, Cde Tendai Chirau said the new dispensation under the able leadership of President Mnangagwa is burning the midnight oil to address the economic challenges that are afflicting the country, urging Zimbabweans to be patient as government deals with the challenges.
“I am here to assure you that the President is in charge of this country and using the majority mandate of the people during elections, he is working on issues affecting the economy and while it would take some time, please be assured that there is good progress and soon the country will begin to see the fruit of his hard work,” said Cde Chirau.
Beitbridge youths appealed for job opportunities during government operations such as the malaria control programmes, saying the current recruitment which excludes locals was against the devolution concept.
“We want all jobs by government departments where ordinary people are engaged like malaria control programmes to be exclusive for local youths,” said one youth.
“Empowerment programmes like irrigation farming and cattle ranching must be extended to us as well so that we get empowered,” another said.
“Even here in rural areas, we need loans for small projects. Loans should be for all of us and only not those in towns,” another youth said.
Cde Chirau assured the youths that their concerns will be addressed, adding that government departments, parastatals and other business entities must adhere to the dictates of government policy of employing locals first wherever they are undertaking any projects.
