The corporate world has joined the Harare City Council in the fight against litter with a local telecommunications company providing council with 1000 waste bins.
Econet Zimbabwe handed over a thousand bins to the City of Harare at the Town House this Thursday (yesterday).
The telecommunications company’s media relation and analysts executive, Fungayi Mandiveyi said the gesture is a show of their corporate social responsibility to maintain safe environs.
Acting director general, Environmental Management Agency, Aaron Chigona who came to witness the 1000 bins handover encouraged more players in the corporate world to come aboard prioritising environmental programmes.
City of Harare Acting Town Clerk, Josephine Ncube encouraged citizens to act responsibly and desist from the culture of throwing litter in undesignated spaces.
The waste bins will complement the consignment of 30 refuse collection trucks which the city recently unveiled.
