The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned motorists to avoid speeding and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before driving as a way of averting accidents during the Easter holiday.
Speaking to the ZBC News, ZRP Spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba urged motorists to adhere to road rules and regulations and avoid speeding, driving while drunk and overtaking errors, among other offences.
“Motorists should avoid embarking on night journeys, speeding, overloading and driving unroadworthy vehicles,” she said.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba revealed that already, four people have perished in a road traffic accident which took place this Thursday at the 19 km peg along the Harare – Nyamapanda highway.
The Easter holidays have become synonymous with fatal accidents on the roads as there is increased traffic on the country’s major highways.
