Harare was a hive of activity as people from all walks of life celebrated Easter in style.
Some attended church to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ, others thronged entertainment spots as they were in a party mood.
However, for most informal traders it was business as usual.
Many churches held services while others took the opportunity to have healing and deliverance as well as life empowerment sessions as part of the Easter celebrations, a holiday of high religious significance in the Christian faith.
“We are commemorating the supreme sacrifice by our Lord Jesus Christ who came here on earth to save us from the bondage of sin taking us into the glory and love of the Almighty father, “said Apostle Florence Kanyati of the Grace Unlimited International.
PHD Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya said this men’s gathering is a step towards creating a man with power who is capable of creating business and financial opportunities towards national development.
There was an air of excitement with many Harare residents saying the holiday is a chance to be with family and friends.
Some were seen at popular leisure spots where informal traders confessed to recording brisk business.
For most of the small scale business enterprises there was no break this Easter as they sought to take full advantage of the holiday buying frenzy.
The foundation of the Christian faith is based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, an event which according to the New Testament occurred 3-days after he was crucified.
