A registered earthquake of 6.5 magnitude on the Richter Scale occurred in Botswana , according to earthquaketrack.com.
People took to social media, and reported feeling the tremor in Johannesburg, Mafikeng, Kimberley, Pretoria and other parts of the South Africa.
There was a vibration of the ground and shaking of the roofs and rattling of doors for over a minute.
Meanwhile, the quake was also felt in some parts of Zimbabwe with people in Victoria Falls, Jambezi and Bulawayo having confirmed feeling the tremor.
The tremor was also felt as far as Manicaland and some parts of Harare at around 1945 hours this evening.
There has been no reports of any possible damage or casualties at the moment.
Today’s earthquake is reportedly the largest tremor on record to have struck Botswana.
