fuel price.jpgA cross-section of ordinary Zimbabweans have professed ignorance over the advantages of using the recently introduced E10 fuel, which is a blend of ethanol and petrol and a step in the right direction towards achieving a green economy.

With most countries in the world adopting the use of renewable sources of energy, Zimbabwe has not been outdone especially with the construction of the multi-million dollar Chisumbanje ethanol plant.

The plant is producing thousands of litres of ethanol per day, but the major problem lies with the end-users who are either reluctant or are ignorant of the advantages that come with the blended petrol.

Ordinary Zimbabweans say they are not aware of the advantages of using the E10 fuel.

Some are of the opinion that the fuel might actually damage their vehicles.

Observers feel that more needs to be done to raise awareness on the advantages of going green and why petrol is being blended with ethanol.

Brazil is one of the world’s largest producers of ethanol and they are said to be blending 80% ethanol with 10% petrol, while Zimbabwe presently blends 10% ethanol and 90% petrol.
