Orphans from Dzikwa Trust lit up proceedings during a belated Chinese Spring Festival commemoration with some exciting cultural displays.
Traditional dance performances by children from Dzikwa Trust mesmerised the Chinese Ambassador Mr Huang Piand invited guests during the belated Chinese Spring Festival celebrations, a day dedicated for a family get together.
Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Ping said it is this rich cultural pull that prompted him to extend an invitation to the trust to be part of the Chinese family.
The spring festival is a family day celebrated on the 15th of February in China. Of importance is the fact that orphans are also family members,” said Ambassador Ping.
Revelations were made that plans are afoot to establish a culture centre that showcases Zimbabwe and Chinese culture and a competition for pupils across the country’ s ten provinces will be conducted.
Dzikwa Trust appreciated the gesture adding it cemented relations after two of their pupils got scholarships to study medicine in China.
“We have benefitted from the trust since we have pupils studying in China after securing scholarships,” Dzikwa Trust arts and culture coordinator Alois Sagota said.
Meanwhile the ambassador also donated goodies including groceries, satchels and shoes to the orphans.
