Zimbabwean Afro jazz diva, Dudu Manhenga has left the country for Italy where they are going to perform in 14 cities at this year’s Italian Jazz Festival.
Dudu is accompanied by her backing band Colour Blue and is expected to stage 16 performances in 14 different towns.
She is also going to take part in one of the prestigious jazz festivals in Italy.
“We will perform at various jazz concerts. We will also feature at eight major festivals such as the Nonsole Jazz Festival in Trento and the Locomotive Jazz Festival in Lecce,†she said.
Cultural attaché at the Italian Embassy in Harare, Paolo Pettini said the tour came about after four year collaboration between Zimbabwean and Italian artists.
“It has been four years since we have been working with Zimbabwean artists and we thought this time we should allow them to go to Italy and exchange notes. We have also seen Italian jazz artists coming to Zimbabwe for collaborations,†said Pettini.
Colour Blue will collaborate with top Italian jazz trumpeter Paolo Frezu, among other jazz artists.
Dudu will perform songs from her new and fourth album titled Ngangiwe.
Some of the tracks off the new Cd album include Mupini Mugomo, Silobela and Mvura Ngainaye.
Dudu left with a four member group that comprises keyboards player Nicholus Nare, drummer Blessing Muparutsa and bass player Enock Piroro.
