zim cricket team.jpgDomestic cricket resumed on Thursday with the Logan Cup fixtures after a spell of international cricket which saw Zimbabwe ‘A’ play visiting New Zealand, while the national team’s tour of South Africa hogged the spotlight.

Defending champions Mashonaland Eagles are hoping to shake off a poor start to the season.

Mashonaland Eagles square off against visiting Matabeleland Tuskers at the Country Districts, while Mid West Rhinos face Mountaineers at the Kwekwe Sports Club.

Mashonaland Eagles with a new coach will be hoping for a change in fortunes in the four day match competition.

Eagles are still without a win after drawing two matches and losing one, but will welcome back their international players who were on international duty.

Tuskers emerged victors over Southern Rocks and opener Terrence Duffin featured prominently, while overseas players Adam Wheater and Steven Trenchart also gave a good account of themselves.

Leaders Mountaineers are seeking to maintain their 100 % winning record when they face MidWest Rhinos away at Kwekwe in what promises to be a tightly contested encounter.

Rhinos are out to get their first victory of the season after drawing with Mashonaland Eagles and losing to Southern Rocks.

Mountaineers go into the match as favourites after clinching two crucial away victories against Eagles and Tuskers.

Matches continue through to Sunday.
