Farmers in Domboshava have lamented lack of markets and prohibitive transport costs as the biggest challenges in making a living out of farming.
Mr Lovemore Chivero and his wife Bernadete of ward 3 in Dombashava Goromonzi RDC who were judged the first runners up in the best communal farmers category at the Agricultural Show said while they have done their part in producing good farm products but lack of proper markets and transport costs are their biggest challenge.
Goromonzi West legislator, Cde Beatrice Nyamupinga appealed to the government to consider communal farmers in the command agriculture programme.
Zimbabwe Agricultural Society chief executive officer, Dr Anxious Masuka said his organisation will continue working with farmers to improve production.
For their efforts the couple received a motor cycle, a bicycle and various inputs.
The first prize went to a farmer in Mashonaland Central Province.
