marange diamond fields.jpgZimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) Chairperson, Godwills Masimirembwa has dismissed as cheap propaganda, a documentary currently being aired by the British Broadcasting Corporation alleging torture and killings of villagers near Marange Diamond fields .

Mr Masimirembwa said the documentary is part of the British Government’s desperate strategy to block the sale of Zimbabwean diamonds to the international community.

He said Mines and Mining Development Minister, Obert Mpofu’s invitiation to  ambassadors from the  European Union  and the United States to visit Chiadzwa to witness  the reality on  the ground, has been ignored for fear of exposing their hidden agendas on Zimbabwe.

Affirmative Action Group(AAG) President, Super Mandiwanzira said the documentary is meant to influence an anti-Zimbabwe Diamonds Campaign organised by the European and some non-governmental organisations opposed to the selling of  the  diamonds, to be held on the  31st of this month in Johannesburg, South Africa .

Most of the invited guests who include Farai Maguwu and some MDC members are opposed to Zimbabwe’s inclusion in the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme in charge of the selling of diamonds.

Mr Mandiwanzira said the AAG has been barred from attending the meeting alongside Minister Mpofu and the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation.
