disabled children.jpgA young Nyazura physically challenged artist has successfully transformed his disability into an inspiration to produce a unique artwork in sandal making.

Self tutored disabled artist, Eric Donda, is creating unique sandal designs using locally available materials.

Donda says his love for drawing saw him turning the objects he used to put on paper to objects that could earn him a living.

Donda, who did his Ordinary Level studies at St. Faith Mission in Nyazura, says his disability is no excuse for him to be a charity case adding that it is the main reason why he executes his work to perfection.

As stories about disabled people overcoming odds continue to be told in Zimbabwe, there is a glimmer of hope that the phrase disability is not inability will be used to alter many perceptions in the society.
