Devine Mercy Humanitarian Trust has joined hands with churches in a number of clean up campaigns.
The trust’s first port of call was in Highfield.
Patron of the trust Mr Norbert Chikumbo said people should desist from throwing litter in the streets as these will affect the environment.
“It is everyone’s duty to make sure that the environment is clean,” he said.
It’s best to take pro-active actions on diseases and live in a clean environment, said leader of the Family Worship Tabernacle International Ministry Prophet Ephias Jengeta.
“If we look around Harare there is litter everywhere and it’s no good for people to live in such situations,” he said.
Residents expressed happiness as they also joined in the campaign against litter.
Harare City Council has not been able to adequately provide refuse compactors in all residential areas due to lack of resources and financial constraints.
