The December 12 Movement says the liberation war hero status bestowed on the late Cde Coltrane Chimurenga by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu PF has cemented the bond that exists between the country and the Pan-African movement.
The late liberation war hero, Cde Chimurenga’s memory will forever be inscribed in the hearts of all progressive Zimbabwe.
His principled stance on the blacks’ right to self-determination and zeal to stand for the rights of the downtrodden, Zimbabwe included, made him a darling of many Zimbabweans.
December 12 Movement Director of Communications, Omowale Clay said they will not forget Zimbabwe after the country not only bestowed on him the provincial hero status, but also allowed him to be buried in the country.
Cde Chimurenga’s sons; Amilcar and Camilo believe there is still a long way to go for Zimbabwe and Africa to achieve a state of true self-determination and are willing to be part of the struggle.
Among other things, Cde Chimurenga will be remembered for persistently fighting against the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act (ZDERA) that was passed by the US government to impose sanctions on Zimbabwe after it had embarked on the land reform programme.
