The crowning of the first ever Miss Pre-teen Zimbabwe is on the cards and sixteen youngsters from seven of the country’s ten provinces are vying for honours.

The contest will be held on the 30th of November at Jason Mphepho’s little theatre in Harare.

The major aim of the pageant is to groom Environmental ambassadors, who will cascade knowledge on productive use of waste through recycling, to their peers in various schools.

The pageant was prompted by the need to instill confidence in young girls.

Miss Pre-teen Zimbabwe patron Mary Mundeya came up with the idea of a pageant which targets girls aged between 6 and 12.

“I was moved by the need to instil confidence in young girls and this is not about beauty, the pageant is aimed at teaching the young ones on the importance of protecting the environment,” said Mundeya.

The participants, who are currently undergoing grooming and environmental lessons, are elated to be part of the initiative.
