Real life experiences from Zimbabwe and South Africa are the focus of a new poetry anthology, titled: Death Of The Commissar by herald political editor, Tichaona Zindoga.

The poetry anthology, Death Of The Commissar, launched in the capital this Wednesday has been described as giving an informed insight on contemporary issues in Southern Africa.

Zindoga, who started work on the anthology in 2013, says his experiences as a journalist shaped his writings as the book is diverse with pieces ranging from leadership and succession issues in Zimbabwe and South Africa, xenophobia, crime, poverty among a myriad of other major socio-economic and political issues.

Launching the book, the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Professor Paul Mavima said youths must not be used as political pawns but must instead strive to shape their own destiny.

The country has given rise to a number of poets such as Ignatius Mabasa, Musaemura Zimunya and Solomon Mutswairo whose artistry with their words has captured the imagination of generations.
