Members of the Zimbabwe Davis Cup tennis team were in Warren Park and Mufakose on outreach programmes which saw them giving free coaching lessons and carrying out awareness programme of the crucial Euro-Africa Group II Davis Cup home tie against Turkey at the Harare Sports Club next weekend.

Top seed Takanyi Garanganga and local tennis coach former Davis Cup captain Martin Dzuwa took time off their training schedule to meet aspiring tennis players and share their experiences and knowledge of the game as part of efforts to give back to the community.

Teacher-in-Charge of Tennis at Mufakose II Chakubva Pasi said the gesture would inspire more young students to take up the sport and realise sport can be a source of employment.

One of the pioneers and veteran coaches to come out of Mufakose Richmore Murape said there was an abundance of natural talent and would continue help source and mobilise resources for the Mufakose community.

Zimbabwe face Turkey in the crucial Euro-Africa Group II tie at Harare Sports Club next weekend.

Benjamin Lock who is playing on the Future Tours International Circuit in Turkey is expected to join camp this weekend while youngsters Mark Chigaazira and SA based Mehluli Ayanda Sibanda are already in camp.
