Dairy farmers have been urged to produce feed at their farms as part of reducing costs of production.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development, responsible for livestock, Cde Paddy Zhanda who had a tour of Belavista dairy farm in Goromonzi said it is time dairy farmers embark on producing their own feed to reduce costs.
Dairy farmer, Cyprian Kunaka said he has cut a lot of costs since he started producing his own feed.
The 29 year old farmer is currently producing feed from lurcene and rye grass.
The farmer is milking 31 cows out of 65 and producing 600 litres of milk per day.
He received 5 cows under the dairy revitalisation programme in September last year.
