The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) has expressed optimism that its forthcoming 2-day Annual Congress at the end of this month will yield results in the crafting of strategies necessary in enhancing the private sector’s role in the sustainable economic empowerment and growth.
The CZI Annual Congress runs from the 28th to the 29th of this month in Victoria Falls and is set to attract over 200 delegates from different sectors of the economy.
CZI President, Mr. Joseph Kanyekanye said he is optimistic that the congress will come up with ways and means to increase productivity in key sectors of the economy.
“We are aware of the need to increase FDIs into the local economy and one area which we are urging government to prioritise is permanence of policy to ensure increased confidence of industry,†said Kanyekanye.
Some of the topics to be discussed at the congress include the strategies for revival of the energy sector, indigenisation and economic empowerment, agriculture revival strategies, labor and industrial productivity as well as funding opportunities for the private sector.
The hosting of the congress which is running under the theme, “Private Sector Leadership: A Paradigm Shift For Economic Growth & Development,†comes at the back of current government efforts to consolidate the macro economic gains as well as to finalise the Medium Term Plan which is envisaged to assist in the transformation of the economy.
