czi president.jpgThe Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) has reiterated its commitment to working closely with relevant departments in ensuring the successful implementation of the indigenisation regulations.

CZI, which has since thrown its weight behind the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act says it has to date made significant contributions towards the successful implementation of the regulations.

Commenting on the on going indigenisation drive, CZI President, Mr. Joseph Kanyekanye highlighted the need to leverage on the country’s resources in ensuring a broad based economic empowerment.

“We are working closely with the relevant government departments and we have some of our members involved in the sector specific committees. We believe there is need to utilise our resource including land and minerals to form part of indigenous people’s equity,” said Mr Kanyekanye.

Mr Kanyekanye dismissed claims by some quarters that the implementation of the indigenisation policy has devastating negative impacts such as causing instability on the local industry as well as loss of investor confidence.

Government is currently in the process of considering recommendations put forward by the sector specific committees towards the effective implementation of the indegenisation regulations within different sectors of the economy.
