A fired up Brian Vitori helped Zimbabwe steer to a 4 wicket victory in a performance where a 5 wicket haul saw him scoop the man of the match accolade.

Vitori’s fifer saw Bangladesh being bowled out for 184 runs, as Raymond Price, Elton Chigumbura, Prosper Utseya and Hamilton Masakadza took a wicket each.

In response to the Tigers 184, Vusimuzi Sibanda who was Zimbabwe’s only batsman to make a half century, fell just 4 runs short of a century.

A run out denied Hamilton Masakadza a half century when he was sent back to the pavilion on 41.

Despite a scare which saw Tatenda Taibu and Craig Ervine being dismissed for 0, Foster Mutizwa stabilised Zimbabwe’s innings, ending unbeaten 27, hence helping the hosts surpass Bangladesh’s 185 target to register a 4 wicket victory and take a 1-nil lead going into the second ODI on Sunday.

After the match Zimbabwe’s captain, Brendan Taylor was delighted by the team’s victory.

Zimbabwe will be hoping to continue with the rich form when they lock horns with the same side this Sunday at the same venue.
