20 schools in Mberengwa District in the Midlands were last week extensively damaged by thunderstorms.
The Civil Protection Unit (CPU) is currently in the process of conducting comprehensive damage assessments in Mberengwa and Gokwe districts.
Meanwhile, the Matabeleland South CPU provincial chairman, Mr. David Mpofu said apart from areas around the Limpopo and Shashe rivers in Beitbridge, areas such as Madlambudzi and Mabongwane in Plumtree also fall under the flood prone areas in the province.
The unit says it is closely monitoring the situation in these areas.
In a statement, CPU Director Mr Madzudzo Pawadyira said hydrological indications shows that Middle Sabi, Gokwe, Kanyemba and Chidodo in Mbire district as well as Dambakurima and Chadereka areas of Muzarabani district continue to be on high alert.
