Kirsty Coventry yesterday spread her junior development initiative to Dzivarasekwa where budding athletes participated in various sporting events.
Dzivarasekwa Stadium was on Saturday (yesterday) abuzz with sporting activity as football and rugby coaches imparted basic skills to budding athletes.
The initiative was spearheaded by Zimbabwe 7-time Olympic medallist Kirsty Coventry who has been widely involved in a thrust to expose young talent to top coaching as well as education.
The programme was hailed by ward 39 Councillor Gilbert Hadebe who thanked Coventry for the initiative which complements the current drive of ensuring there is sporting activity in the communities.
Yesterday’s event was part of a Kirsty Coventry initiative which seeks to inspire youth to become their own heroes and empower individuals through education and training.
Coventry is Zimbabwe’s most decorated athlete after winning 7 Olympic medals.
