All is set for the 2017 cotton marketing season as government confirms the producer price of 55 cents per kilogramme for grade cotton.

The Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Dr Joseph Made has confirmed the 2017 cotton producer price of 55 cents per kg for grade cotton on top of free inputs which were given to farmers under the Presidential cotton inputs.

The Cotton Company of Zimbabwe which has been given the mandate to buy cotton produced under the Presidential free cotton inputs has started deploying buying staff at various depots countrywide in readiness for the farmers to start deliveries, noted the company’s managing director Pious Manamike.

The country is expecting about 110 000 tonnes of cotton this season up from 32 000 produced last year.
