The Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) has started the distribution of cotton seed to strategic points before the actual programmes roar into life this month.

Last season over 4 000 tonnes of cotton seed were distributed to growers in the country’s cotton greenbelts.

Cottco acting managing director Mr Pious Manamike sai the company is working hard to ensure the disbursement of seeds starts early to ensure maximum yields.

This season stakeholders had a target of 110 000 tonnes output which is ten folds higher than the previous season’s 10 000 tonnes.

This also saw a number of ginneries opening across the country a development which created thousands of jobs.
