The country’s corporate sector is making various interventions to combat further spread of the cholera epidemic which has killed scores of people in Harare.

In Glen View, the epicenter of the cholera epidemic in Harare, OK Zimbabwe donated thousands of bottles of water guard aimed at providing clean water to the residents.

OK Zimbabwe public relations manager Mr Simbarashe Chaburuka said they were motivated to chip in to avoid the further loss of lives.

“We as a company resolved to help in this time of need because providing clean water is important to avert the crisis,” he said.

In Budiriro 1 high density suburb, residents of the area were being taught of ways to prevent the spread of cholera in the handywash campaign sponsored by Uniliver.

Chief Executive of Unilever Mr Hillary Muzondiwa who took part in the campaign said this is their way of averting the spread of water borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

This week government declared Harare a state of emergency after more than 20 people succumbed to cholera in the capital.

Further, government has banned public gatherings and urged people to maintain high standards of hygienic practises.
