douglas mwonzora.jpgThe Constitution Parliamentary Select Committee (COPAC) says it has replaced 5 MDC-M members after accepting requests from the Ncube led faction of the party.

COPAC Co-chairperson, Mr Douglas Mwonzora confirmed that they have taken heed to the MDC-M request to replace its 5 members.

“We have received and accepted written requests from MDC-M to remove 5 of its members from the constitution making process,” Mr Mwonzora said.

Mr Patrick Muusha, Mr Oswell Dziike, Mr Morgan Changamire, Mr Maxwell Zimuto and Mr Enock Tsikai have been served with dismissal orders after receiving 2 letters dated January 11 and 17.

Both letters were signed by Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, who has been accused by the Joubert Mudzumwe faction of conniving with Professor Welshman Ncube to sideline them on the basis of them being northerners.

The development came as a result of deep in-house fighting in MDC-M between the Welshman Ncube and the Joubert Mudzumwe factions, with the later arguing that both COPAC and the party have no mandate to expel them.

Despite proposals by the Welshman Ncube faction to bear all costs in compensating the expelled members and assuring COPAC that it is exonerated from any claims whatsoever that might arise, Oswell Dziike, who is the former National Spokesman in the MDC-M refused to accept the expulsions.

With the COPAC co-chairpersons confirming that the MDC-M squabbles posed a problem that might result in missing the previous 15 day deadline, it remains to be seen how both COPAC and MDC-M will fare in face of a mulled possible legal action from the expelled members.
